The Herald

The Silver Surfer is a Marvel Comics superhero and was created by Jack Kirby and Stan Lee. He first appeared in The Fantastic Four #48 (1966). The Surfer was originally Norrin Radd, a young astronomer of the planet Zenn-La. He agreed to serve as a herald for the alien Galactus to save Zenn-La from the planet-consuming super being. Galactus granted Norrin Radd enormous cosmic powers, a silvery appearance and a surfboard-like vehicle, all of which modeled after a childhood fantasy of Radd's. Thereafter, he roamed the cosmos, searching for new planets for Galactus to consume until, after an encounter with Earth's Fantastic Four, he betrayed Galactus, who doomed the Surfer to exile on Earth. The Silver Surfer possesses vast power known as the "Power Cosmic," gained when Galactus restructured his former body. He has the ability to channel ambient cosmic energy into his body at will, and expel it violently as concussive force or gently as a means to restructure molecules according to his mental design. He can generate beams of energy with sufficient destructive force to annihilate a planet or generate such subtle amounts of energy to restructure the molecules of the natural pigments within a plant to change its color. The Surfer can rearrange the molecules of matter to create other configurations, and can transmute elements. While he can use his power to revitalize life energies and heal the wounded, he cannot create life or return the dead to the living. Despite these vast powers, the Surfer is not completely unstoppable. He has in the past been wounded by vastly powerful forms of magic and by other users of the Power Cosmic, such as Galactus and his other heralds. He is not immune to psionics or other forms of mental attack or manipulation, although his willpower and spiritual strength provide him with a great deal of resistance to mind control. Bottom Line...HE FLYS AROUND ON A SILVER SURFBOARD that travels 99% the speed of light (186,000 miles per second)! How much wax does that take? Posted by Picasa

The Good Doctor

It seems that "Superhero Of The Week" has replaced the TAO (i'll hit you with some later). Dr. Stephen Strange is the Sorcerer Supreme of the Earth dimension, responsible for defending it from mystic threats. He is a master of the mystic arts, using his abilities to battle evil magicians and other supernatural villains. He is also often consulted by other superheroes on supernatural matters. He holds an M.D. in neurosurgery, although his ability to perform such delicate tasks has been compromised due to his accident. Stephen is also an accomplished martial artist. Doctor Strange's magic has shown the ability to effect even the most powerful of entities, leading many to believe Dr. Strange is Marvel's most powerful superhero. Posted by Picasa

Kilby Court (4-15-06)

I don't know if I have said this before but I LOVE playing Kilby Court here in Salt Lake City. The crowd is always DOPE and the people that work there are RAD. Thanks to The Brobecks & The Annuals? for letting us rock it with them. Here are some pics from the event... ps. Jana Maru-rphy took these lovely shots. Posted by Picasa

War Machine

Now, here is a character I can get behind. Iron Man possesses powered armor that gives him superhuman strength, virtual invulnerability, flight, and an array of weapons. The armor was invented and, with occasional short-term exceptions, worn by Tony Stark, an American industrialist billionaire and military contractor known not only for his lifestyle, but also for his incredible ingenuity and inventive genius. Writers often portray Iron Man as a symbol of humanity's creativity as well as its frailties. As evidenced by his two serious bouts with alcoholism and subsequent recovery from heart attacks and other illnesses, Stark is possessed of tremendous strength of will, never giving up and often emerging from defeat even stronger. It is arguable that the true "iron man" is not the armor, but Stark himself. I would like to see M. Night Shyamalan direct the Iron Man flick. Peace-DAG! Posted by Picasa

Power To The People!

I don't care what side of this "immigration" thing you are on BUT you have to recognize April 9th 2006 was an important day for Salt lake City. An estimated 20,000 people came out to the downtown area for this rally. I was cooped up at work all day and had to catch this on the news tonight. I wish I could have been there. My great grandparents came to America illegally from Europe so I don't feel I'm one to lecture what is right or wrong on this topic. I can see both sides of it. Watching the news tonight made me feel pride in our city. At times I get fed up with UTAH feeling like things will never change. To me, this was a positive moment and it felt good. Just had to share- DAG! Posted by Picasa

Am I un-American because I don't like Captain America? Get ready for action!

Captain America A.K.A. Steve Rogers. Created by Joe Simon & Jack Kirby. His first appeared in Timely Comics: Captain America Comics #1 (March 1941). He was, if not the first, certainly the most prominent and enduring of a wave of patriotically themed superheroes that American comic book companies introduced just prior to and during WWII. Captain America faced Nazis and Japanese troops during his 1940s heyday, but after the end of the war, his main reason for existence (as a fictional war hero) was gone, and the character's popularity faded. He is affiliated with The Avengers and S.H.I.E.L.D. He has no superhuman powers (pumped up by a “Super-Soldier” serum doesn’t count). His weapon, A discus-shaped shield. Even the best artists in comics have had a hard time making this character look “cool”. I have NEVER gotten in Captain America and I doubt I ever will. I recently watched “The Avengers” DVD. It was so-so, not that bad and not that good. I’m not sure how CAP fits into the political fabric of 2000 and beyond and if he is still a relevant figurehead. Just thinking out loud. GET READY FOR ACTION! Posted by Picasa

Somebody's Watchin' ME...

Tonight I will SLEEP like a MADMAN. Check this week out. Wed: Have to drop the vehicle back to the Firestone to 1) fix the passenger mirror the tow guy broke 2) make sure there are no FUEL leaks from the work they did. I see drips, I smell gas. I have to pick Elektra up from school. Food shop. Watch "Lost" and a Rotten Musicians practice. Thurs: Finish the final draft of the "Wendy Bradshaw" article for SLiC. Pick Lex up again. Write some raps and go to Provo to lay down "Heavy Handed" (if the vehicle is 100% done). Fri: Work from 7am-6pm then roll to Shaggys for the "Best Of Utah" party and the Rotten Musicians show. Hence the BLOODSHOT eyes- DAG! Posted by Picasa
